Our story

Ouma Pourchottemin is the founder of Mayalayas – she grew sick of our modern day living and wanted to build a safe and secure future integrated with nature.

After decades of using chemical based products, she found out how to make natural soaps, body care and hair care. This changed everything for her, from a poor lifestyle to a healthier one.

After a personal trauma and years of crafting, she finally decided that everyone needed to embrace a healthier life. That’s the start of Mayalayas.

Apple cider vinegar (ACV)

Apple cider vinegar is known for its benefits on the skin due to its acidic and antibacterial properties. It can balance your skin’s pH, exfoliate dead skin cells and reduce the appearance of pigmentation and acne.

Natural clays

Natural clays such as French green clay and Brazilian yellow clay deeply cleanse pores, remove toxins, and gently exfoliate dead skin. Rich in minerals, they help balance oil, reduce acne, and soothe irritated skin.

Essential oils

Essential oils like tea tree, lavender, and eucalyptus offer powerful antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and soothing properties. They help treat acne, calm irritation and boost skin glow.

Coconut oil

We use sulfur free cold-pressed edible coconut oil in all our handmade soaps and other products for its rich, nourishing properties. It can help hydrate dry skin, reduce inflammation and fight acne and signs of aging.

In 2012 about 12 million metric tons of plastic was thrown out in the ocean which then decomposed in micro-plastic and nano-plastic

So here at Mayalayas, we decided that it’s time to take action. We only use biodegradable cling wrap to wrap our soaps and we switched to honeycomb wraps instead of using bubble wraps. We also use brown cover for packaging.

We harness the gifts of mother nature to craft our products. Everything is handmade in small quantities so that we always provide the market with a product of quality.
